The City - the City of London, to give it its full title - is at one and the same time the most ancient and the most modern part of London. Settled since Roman times, it is now one of the world's great financial centres, yet retains its share of historic sights, notably the Tower of London and a fine cache of Wren churches that includes St Paul's Cathedral. 

Despite creeping trendification, the East End , to the east of the City, is not conventional tourist territory, but to ignore it entirely is to miss out a crucial element of contemporary London.

I suppose is to be expected. Concierge managed to arrange excellent seats for top matinee show 2 hours before it started which made our stay complete. Would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone. Felt like a 5 star for 3/4 star money. Excellent hotel - wuld stay here again without doubt. The breakfast was superb and we also shook off our hangover with a swim and a spa in the health club in the basement. The hotel was great in every way and each one of our party enjoyed themselves immensely.

The bathroom was spotlessly clean. For London break you cant go to far wrong with this London Discount City Hotel London - Thistle City Barbican . Thislte Tower a better bet if your not so fit and can afford the extra price.
