Date: 20 May 2008 Title: "Loved our stay at the Marconi" Reviewer:A my-discount-hotels.com user, Norfolk, Virginia, USA We stayed at the Empire Hotel Discount Brunei Country Club for 6 nights for our Honeymoon. The night we arrived we stepped out on our balcony and were blown away with what we saw, so beautiful and large with all lights on near the lagoon pool. The Empire Hotel Discount Brunei Country Club has everything and Nov after Ramadan is perfect time to go - nobody there. We had most things to ourselves and the activities were plentiful...jetskiing, ten pin bowling, golf, spa, tennis, kayaking squash, cinema. There were hardly any negatives but be aware of a couple of things. No ATM working for cash, restaurants very expensive (two mains and a salad $100 Aus), we ate alot of room service which was delivered beautifully and was half the price. Empire Hotel Discount Brunei Country Club Golf was great except they sent us on the wrong nine to play night golf and by the third tee was dark (not funny at the time). Dont do the city tour, it was a waste of time and not much in the city, so you could just get a shuttle in if need be. We had such a great time, would probably recommend 3 nights in Sabah (Nexus) and 3 nights at the Empire Hotel Discount Brunei Country Club. Spent 3 nights at the Empire Hotel Discount Brunei Country Club in October 2005, all i can say is just about the best hotel i have ever been in or stayed at. We were upgraded to a suite !!! no extra cost and wow !! what about the views, balcony etc from the room overlooking the south china sea. The Empire Hotel Discount Brunei Country Clubstaff were friendly and very helpfull. What can i say i would go back tomorrow and stay for several weeks. What a love country and Place Brunei is. Do yourself a BIG favour and stay here for a few days, if you like grandour, architecture and gold go !! Date: 6 Dec. 2006 Title: The Staff Were Very Helpful And Polite Reviewer: A my-discount-hotels.com user, Orlando, FL , USA Before our stay at The Empire Hotel Discount Brunei Country Club I had read reviews saying it was boring, well they must be hard to please as we stayed for 4 days and wished it was longer, we will certainly go back again as there are still things we didnt do. More Empire Hotel Brunei Country Club Photos The Empire Hotel Discount Brunei Country Club hotel is wonderful, and so is the staff. We had a Lagoon room, we could have upgraded for a reasonable amount to sea view but actually liked where we were, our room was lovely and the bathroom very large and beautfully fitted out with extra large shower and wonderful marbles, big bath etc.The gardens are lovely to walk round and the pool is just amazing (we also had a smaler pool by our lagoon building.We spent less on meals here than we did in Sabah. Of course it is a dry country (no alcohol) but tourists are allowed to bring in two bottles of spirits or wine, I would have liked to bring more wine to enjoy with dinner but they do very good mocktails etc so its no hardship.The weather was superb, we found it better than Sabah which was very humid.We fkew with Royal Brunei and had good service, so looking forward to another visit to The Empire Hotel Discount Brunei Country Club as its just so right when you want a relaxing but not too restful holiday.
