Galleries, boutiques and museums are right around the corner and minutes from the core commerce districts, theatres, trade centres and leisure attractions and venues.
As mentioned previously, there are two (at least?) Intercontinental Hotels in Toronto and this review is of the Toronto Center location. Being contiguous with the convention center, it is certainly a convention hotel - but a good one. The lobby and rooms are decorated in a "high-end convention hotel" style, but are clean and well maintained, and the rooms are spacious. The spa is small but more than adequate. The fitness center is a bit of a joke for a hotel of this size but I was able to find an open machine each time I was there. I would go back.
InterContinental Toronto hotel's service is excellent, the location is great (near theatres, shopping, subway, museum, university, everything!), and the rooms are spacious and beautiful. The restaurant has a lovely tea service in the afternoon and the lobby is very pleasant.
We booked this hotel on this website and got an incredible CAA rate of 169 Canadian dollars for a two nights stay during the week. I didn't expected to have a great room for this amount of money but was very pleased with the room we got which was located on the last floor with a nice view of downtown and CN tower. The room was classically furnished with high quality furniture including a nice paneled armoire. The bathroom was large with a separate shower and granite counter. Breakfast was great and the staff very attentive. This "boutique" hotel with its old world charm stands the comparison with its neighbours, the Hyatt and the Four Seasons but has better rates. A touch of class in Toronto.
