The past has become the future for the New York Hotel Intercontinental New York. This legendary hotel, located on East 48th Street just steps from Park Avenue, celebrated its 75th anniversary last fall by reclaiming its original Barclay name, following a spectacular multimillion dollar rejuvenation program.

New York Hotel Intercontinental New York's bedrooms are very comfortable, decent floor plan, and equipped with everything you'd expect of a 4 star - including a well-stocked mini-bar! The built-in unit is very cool. On the bottom left it holds a minibar with the expectedly ludicrous prices. Above the minibar, at about 3 feet, is a granite topped counter space, which would be quite nice for preparing food. A door over the granite top opens up, and two shelves slide out revealing an ice bucket, wineglasses and waterglasses on one, and a coffee maker and coffee cups on the other.

New York Hotel Intercontinental New York's dining facilities offer a choice of New American cuisine at the hotel's Barclay Bar & Grill, while Room Service is available for guests wishing to dine in the privacy of their own room.1500-square-foot Health Club & Spa, featuring state-of-the-art fitness equipment, together with an array of massages.

I couldn't decide where to stay, so let my-discount-hotels.com do it for me. This was an excellent hotel and a tremendous value. The rooms are quite nice, the service was outstanding. The rooms don't have the size of hotels outside of NYC, but were larger than other boutique hotels I've tried. A line of cabs was always at the front door waiting for you. The Barclay was great - clean, elegant, nice size room, pleasant staff. The hotel is within walking distance of Rockefeller Plaza and Times Square/theater district...the subway is close as well... You should not hesitate to stay in this hotel. A nice experience."

My girlfriend and I stayed here for a week, and having stayed in hotels across America, I know what I'm talking about when I say this was one of the best, and in a great location, too. Our room was moderately-sized, situated pretty much where requested and meticulously clean. Easy-to-operate safe, fantastic bathroom. Staff were helpful, chatty and friendly throughout our stay. The hotel itself is very elegant and the lobby is beautiful. The bar was somewhat depressing though - at 10 pm it was empty and the bartender decided to close it down for the night at 10:30. Location is perfect for seeing NY, and we asked for a high floor (25) so it was very quiet. Stay here and you won't be disappointed.
