"An Alternative To The High Rise Bed Factories"
With their wide porthole windows (which actually open), New York The Maritime Hotel New York's guest rooms are all designed to resemble a ship's cabin, in all of its functional elegance. The rooms feature teak wood paneling and handsome furnishings.

New York The Maritime Hotel New York is a great small hotel. Good subway access to Midtown, Broadway is particularly easy. A popular gay bar is next door while New York The Maritime Hotel New York's lobby, bar and patio all are busy and fun for a drink. Several good restaurants and trendy shopping are nearby.
The staff is very, pleasant, friendly and helpful. They truly seem to care that the guests are happy and well taken care of, none of the attitude sometimes experienced at other NY boutique hotels. The first time the hotel offered a complimentary continental breakfast buffet, but now that they have finished the restaurant, the only morning coffee available is for sale in the restaurant or by room service.

This hotel is a modern tower of white ceramic tile with unique porthole windows. The Maritime Hotel enjoys a very privileged location. This is the only full-service hotel in the popular Chelsea section of Maanhattan. From this hotel,guests can easily access the popular attractions and boutiques of this vibrant neighborhood. The Village is only a few blocks away.

We just returned from five nights at the Maritime and were highly impressed. There's very little attitude with the staff and the main floor/restaurants are certainly happening.
The rooms are snug, but the attention to detail is apparent throughout -- from the quality of the toiletries, to the gorgeous shower tile, to the complimentary wifi service, the CD player, the DVD player with flat screen television, the many smart builtins, prompt housekeeping who address your requests, to the very thickness of the pads of writing paper in the room.
I have stayed that Maritime twice, and each time found it a great small hotel. The rooms are compact, but very well done. The porthole windows are cool and the wood paneling, TVs and baths are well fitted. The rooms are quite except for traffic noises early in the morning, especially with the window open.
The staff is very, pleasant, friendly and helpful. . They truly seem to care that the guests are happy and well taken care of, none of the attitude sometimes experienced at other NY boutique hotels. Overall, I like this hotel better and less expensive than the W Times Square or the Muse each of which I have recently stayed at.
