I stayed at the Omni Hotel Downtown Detroit River Place for 2 nights when I came out to Detroit for the bridal shower of my daughter-in-law to be. It was the first time I had ever stayed at a hotel without my husband and I was expecting to be a little uneasy but I wasn't at all. I was very impressed with the fact that someone from the hotel called me at home a few days before my stay to confirm my reservation and then someone else called the day before to ask if I would be needing anything special during my stay. 
More Omni Hotel Downtown Detroit at River Place Facility AmenityAll the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful from the front desk to the valet parking attendant to the room service etc. The room was clean and nicely decorated with a comfortable bed that had lots of pillows. There were alot of channels on the TV. The bathroom was also clean with lots of marble. There was a hairdryer, a special makeup mirror,and lots of little amenities. It's true that the Omni Hotel Downtown Detroit River Place isn't near the restaurants etc. but everything is no more than 5 to 10 minutes away and you will get a quiet, restful sleep, not being near the city noise.

We stayed at the Omni Hotel Downtown Detroit River Place on New Years Eve 2006. We booked the hotel through Expedia a few months prior to our stay. Expedia's policy guarantees a king or two double beds. Since there were 4 of us in our party, we needed two doubles. Upon arrival, the hotel staff informed me that they had a room with a king size bed for us. I immediately requested two doubles and without hesitation, my requested was granted even though the hotel was sold out for the evening. The front desk informed me that they kept one double bed room available for such a request. Our room was comfortable, spacious, and clean. The decor of the hotel is beautiful and the property is located right along the Detroit River.

The lady at the front desk was especially friendly and welcoming. Remember, this was New Years Eve - a very, very busy night for a sold-out hotel, but the staff acted so professional and went out of their way to be very friendly and courteous. An added bonus to this Omni Hotel Downtown Detroit River Place is the complimentary shuttle service to and from any where downtown so you can avoid driving or paying for a taxi. Bottom line - I would go back to this hotel without any hesitation.

Omni Detroit PriceMe and my girl freind stayed at Omni Hotel Downtown Detroit River Place for 2 nights in January for the Auto Show. We also stayed at the Pontch and the RenCen, and this was by far our favorite hotel. It is off the beaten path which is nice. Has awesome rooms and views. The only thing we didnt like was that the parking guys were very slow to bring your car around, even though the parking lot is very close. I will come back to this hotel again next year.

For the second Thanksgiving weekend in a row my husband and I have chosen to stay at the Omni Hotel Downtown Detroit River Place. The decor is really lovely and gives it an inviting & romantic feel - vs. the usual four white wall look of most hotels. I must say, this hotel is one of the very few where you could just enjoy staying in your room and relaxing or watching television... We plan on keeping this little love nest as #1 on our list of favorite hotels while in Detroit.
